A Delightfully Stitched & Enchantingly Beautiful Doll With Rapunzel Hair

Hello everyone! I'm excited to showcase the beautiful doll I made for my youngest granddaughter, Charlotte!
It took me a bit of time to get it started but when I did, the daunting process I thought it would be emerged into a not-so-intimidating a project. It was a delight and so much fun to make this adorable doll with very long hair!!
Well...not as long as the real Rapunzel, but long enough to be a head-stopper!
I want to make a doll for myself! She's soooo adorable!! Don't know if I will, but at least I know it's very doable, and as long as one follows the very detailed directions, anyone who has a bit of sewing knowledge can make one too.
The doll pattern is called La Lune. I'll provide the information at the end of this post so you can order the pattern. It includes one outfit to sew - top and pants. I also purchased the La Lune summer outfit pattern.
I just love her hair!! And she came out looking soooo beautiful with two outfits and shoes and hat.
I'll start with the body parts - minus the head - because that's how she was made. In that order.
Here she is 'sans' clothing and head. Ta da!

The arms and legs are posable. The arms are attached at the shoulders through the upper torso in to the other shoulder so that "Rapunzel" can raise her arms. You need a 5-inch doll making needle to do this.
The elbows can bend as well as the knees, as you can see in the photo. They are stitched a certain way so they can bend a bit. Not difficult at all!
Once I finished the body, it was time to create a beautiful face with the templates included. For a studious look, "glasses" can be drawn on her face or even choose to make yours a boy doll. And add some freckles! There are two options in creating the facial features. I chose to embroider them instead of drawing them on with colored pencil. (The blue ink you see disappears with the heat of an iron.) I wanted blue eyes because Charlotte has blue eyes - just like me! What do you think of her face?

Just before adding the hair, her head needed to be stitched onto her neck very, very well!
I chose two colors of yarn to give her hair some interest in brown and gold. And made sure it was thick and luxurious! I kept adding and adding strands until I felt she had enough hair to be enchanting. The length is up to you. The hair hanging down the back of her head was stitched down with rows of stitching to keep it in place. Then the rest of the hair was draped over it loosely.
Here she is with all her hair attached. I started to braid her hair on one side.

White felt shoes and white hat.

And two outfits - a sun dress and a top and pants outfit. So cute! Later I will sew more clothes so Charlotte will have fun dressing her up in different outfits.

Did you get the itch to stitch one for yourself or for a little girl? Here's the info on where to purchase the pattern and clothing.
Ginger Melon is the name of the company. The owner has other very cute dolls and other sweet creatures to make! Her patterns and instructions are very complete. Just follow them precisely and your creation will come out just right.
