SUNDAY SNIPPET - O'er the tumult of life's wild restless sea

Thoughts were swirling inside my head on Saturday on what to share with you today. I was down and out because of a conversation gone awry. Do you ever think you can’t ever do anything or say anything right? I wasn’t feeling very qualified to write a bit of a blessing for anyone today.

I was in a state of dismay. When after praying about it – the hymn below immediately started singing in my head. I was amazed as I hadn’t sung or played this hymn in many years.

It’s no coincidence. I’m far from perfect, the world isn’t perfect, and that is why the LORD was reminding me that I need Him for everything – little or large – at home or out in a world where people are swimming in a wild, restless sea. Many are hard-pressed to cope with a worldwide virus that has even curtailed our activities.

He brought that lovely hymn to my mind as if to say, “I’m here, my mercies are great, your sins are forgiven, I am taking care of everything – in your home and in the world outside.”

While you are home – perhaps relaxing and doing things with family, waiting for the world situation to change back to “normal” – or like myself and my husband, are “attending” church via live streaming in our living room – I hope the words of this hymn will speak to you today in the midst of a wild, restless sea.

Remember…GOD is in control. All the time.

Jesus Calls Us

Jesus calls us; o’er the tumult of our life’s wild, restless sea,

Day by day His sweet voice soundeth, Saying “Christian, follow Me.”

Jesus calls us from the worship of the vain world’s golden store,

From each idol that would keep us, saying “Christian, love me more.”

In our joys and in our sorrows, days of toil and hours of ease,

Still He calls in cares and pleasures, “Christian, love Me more than these.”

Jesus calls us: by Thy mercies, Savior, may we hear Thy call,

Give our hearts to Thine obedience, serve and love Thee best of all.
