Sunday Snippet - Surrender to God's Peace—Stop Fighting the Current
Good morning!
It's been several months since I've written. So I decided to add a Sunday Snippet in before I send out my next post about a particular sewing project I completed a few months ago! That will be forthcoming this week.
This morning, my church choir (that I am a member of) will be singing "City of God." It contrasts a smooth-flowing river with tumult. That God's river can bring peace and comfort to your storm-filled life.
I looked up some notes and quotes by Charles Spurgeon. He was a Baptist preacher in England during the 1800s.
If your life has been similar to mine - a seemingly never-ending (years upon years) tumultuous and stressful life circumstance - then taking his quote to heart can be a boost to help bring inner peace.
It's difficult to admit his words are true because I keep praying for my difficult situation to end. (The quote is taken from The Spurgeon Library website.)
“The daily troubles we have are meant to drive us to God, to drive us to the promise, and also to show us where our weak points are, in order that we may contend with all our might against them. I believe, my dear friends, that the most hard-hearted, cross-grained, and most unlovely Christians in all the world are those who never have had much trouble, and those who are the most sympathizing, loving, and Christ-like, are generally those that have the most affliction.”
Keep praying. Keep looking to GOD for health and strength and daily food. For peace, comfort, and sustaining faith.
